For my first write-up for our LxListening features, I was trying to think of an overarching theme for much of the music I have listened to as of lately. Then, bouncing through my recent played albums, that I had been listening almost exclusively to female lead bands, both old and new. Being a blog run by three dudes, we thought it would be good to pump some feminine flavor into the blog once and a while. So here you are.
Tom Waits Bad As Me Recently in my life I made two purchases that I was extremely excited about and even more pleased with. First and foremost, the new Tom Waits album. Hardly any album in recent days has excited me as much as this new Tom Waits album. My hopes had set the bar for this one extremely high, and Tom did nothing but blow my expectations out of the water. My second purchase I would like to discuss,
With the great disappointment of Mylo Xyloto (Coldplays new concept album that dropped earlier this week) still being fresh in our heads, we at LxL wanted to remind the world that there are indeed good concept albums out there. Apologies to Austin, who got particularly screwed in this weeks voting, but nonetheless, here is what we came up with:
Via pitchfork, today the Black Keys have dropped a new single from their upcoming album, El Camino. Further luck would have it that the new single, “Lonely Boy”, is accompanied by music video that can be exclusively found at LxL (complete lie).
